The 76ers have struggled in the past few years winning their last division and conference title in 2000/01 before losing to the LA Lakers in four games.  The season after reaching the finals Philadelphia only managed to secure the sixth best seed in the conference. In 2006 the 76ers decided to rebuild their squad and traded one of the best all time scorers in Allen Iverson to the Denver Nuggets.  In 2009 the 6ers looked to win their first NBA championship since 1983 when they signed Elton Brand to a lucrative multiyear deal. However the move didn’t turn out to be what they hoped for when Brand’s early season performances were below par before he sustained an injury to his shoulder forcing him to undergo season ending surgery.
