The Wizards’ history as a franchise has been one marred with three different city relocations. Starting out as the Chicago Packers the name was changed to the Chicago Zephyrs a year later. The franchise was then moved to Baltimore where they were named the bullets. In 1974 the team was renamed to the Washington Bullets and in 1997 the team was renamed to the Wizards after owner Abe Pollin decided that the world ‘bullets’ had too many negative connotations. The Wizards’ lone NBA Championship came in 1978 and since 1979 the club has failed to win the eastern conference of their division.
